The wood items in the backline collection of Blackcreek Mercantile & Trading Co. utilize a natural reactive process which gives them their distinctive dark finish. This unique technique makes use of the tannic acid inherent in white oak to develop a deep, durable, food-safe dye; the source of which comes from within the wood itself. As with most natural processes, some variation in color is to be expected. Natural dyes will wear over time, developing a rich patina that is special to the object and how it is being used. Dimensions and wood types may vary depending on availability.
Blackcreek Mercantile & Trading Company only uses domestic hardwoods that are sustainably harvested. Materials: White Oak Small Size: 8’’ wide x 16’’ long
Care: Hand-wash with soap and water. It's essential to oil these boards, especially in the beginning. As they're used, they will require less oiling. It should be noted that highly acidic foods such as lemons will affect the natural dye. Some color may bleed initially.
